A study on the Health Status and Medical Service Experience Influencing the Suicidal Ideation of Person with Disabilities

Abstract
This study examines the influencing of health status and medical service experience on suicidal ideation of person with disabilities. As health status, factors consisted of physical and mental health and subjective health. Medical service experience, factors consisted of general satisfaction with medical services, insufficient medical service experience. A logistic regression analysis was performed on 4,648 person with disabilities using data from 2th of Disability and Life Dynamics Panel. As a result of the analysis, chronic disease, depression, general health status, and insufficient medical service experience had a significant effect on suicidal ideation. Based on these results, first, it suggest to prepare a system focusing on medical security such as health, economy and mobility right to reduce the suicide rate for person with disabilities. Second, it suggest to prepare and strengthen a community-based support system for the suicide prevention for person with disabilities.
